How do people perceive the surrounding space and does technological progress change their relationships? In an attempt to answer this question, the artist created this sound art object that scans a space and reproduces its curvature as a sound wave.
Sonic Squid contains an HC-SR04 ultrasonic sensor and an Arduino Uno microcontroller. The signal processing algorithm was developed using the Pure Data visual programming language.
The viewer can hear something that can only be perceived visually or tactilely, thus expanding the limits of their perception of the world.
Hold one of the proposed objects up to the sensor to see a graph of its curvature and hear the sound wave.
The project was developed as part of the "ArtTech" master's program at NUST MISIS.
